The problem of diminishing in religion raises a great deal of controversy, especially in relation to the John Paul the seconds death. Some people advocate that in contemporary society there is no more place for any religion. Others claim that we human need principles and moral values in our difficult times and the religion is the best teacher.
One of the main argument for the opinion that the need for religion is in decline, is connected with lower rate of people attending to church. It is said, that modern society does not want to follow the strict rules supported by Church, not to mention the values which seem to be anachronistic . Moreover, the modern culture which is based on consumerism or "MTV-style of life" rejects all traditional or religious directions, which might collide with it.
Another argument indicates that the main problem is the weakness of religion. Some people claim that Church not only did not prevent the tragedy like holocaust, but also was not able to tell the truth about scandals, like sexual assault which was widely discussed lately in USA.
On the other hand, the moral crisis which takes place in modern world, encourage people to search some directions for good life exactly in religious systems. It is strongly supported by the situation in the Arabic states, where more and more people is orthodox or even fanatic.
What is more, inhabitants living in big cities are suffering from lack of normal relationships. The loneliness and emptiness cause that people are looking for creating relationships in religious environment for example some pilgrims' groups.
All things considered it seems that the religion plays a less significant role than it used to in the past. However, it still concerns the very important for human being an we can not cross it out of our heritage.
